The Engineering Services Department of Greater Hume Shire is located in the Culcairn Office and is responsible for providing residents with a number of Council services throughout the Shire including:
- Construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.
- Parks, gardens and reserves management and maintenance.
- Water and sewerage services and planning.
- Stormwater management.
- Public amenities.
- Road safety information.
- Risk management.
- Emergency services management.
- Survey and design.

Jingellic Road (Yarara Gap) Reconstruction
Community Update 3
7 April 2016
The project is on track for completion this month with the Contractor expected to leave site by Friday, 29 April.
Final seal of remaining 1.2km of works will be undertaken next week (11 - 15 April) with prime and two coat seal to placed over a number of days.
Once seals have been completed, guard rail, line marking and guideposts will be installed.
Major works completed in last month is the laying and compaction of pavement material for the remaining 1.2km.
Completion of additional inlet and outlet works on major culvert structure in creek at eastern end of the project.
Final cross drainage culverts laid and concrete spoon drains constructed. Project is running approximately 4 weeks late due to wet weather and additional work on creek culvert structure.
Project (25-29 April)
Cleanup of site will commence shortly. Fencing of land acquisitions for project is currently underway.
We are proposing an opening to be held in early May (a date yet to be confirmed) with B Double gazettal of the
road planned for Monday, 2 May 2016.

Community Update 2
24 December 2015
Greater Hume Shire Council has been successful in obtaining major funding for the Jingellic Road (Yarara Gap) $3.5M reconstruction. It is expected that construction will commence in September with the project aimed to finish prior to the 2016 Easter holiday period.
Work on the project is progressing well with all of the major earthworks/drainage and substantial part of the road pavement being completed on the 2.2km steep section (Separable Portion B). The remaining gravel pavement on this section will be completed in January with the bitumen seal being placed in late January.
Some preliminary works have been undertaken on the 600m section at the Holbrook (western) end of the project (Separable Portion A ) with major road reconstruction commencing late January. Replacement of a major box culvert on this section will also be done.
It is expected that this section of road to be completed in March with the whole project being completed late March /early April 2016.
