Comment on Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Council has resolved to exhibit the draft Greater Hume Shire Council Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP).

The plan is committed to disability inclusion and access to build a strong and equitable community. Greater Hume Shire supports the fundamental right of people with disability to choose how they live their lives, to access opportunities and enjoy the benefits of living and working in our communities as all residents do. Council’s DIAP has been developed in consultation with people with disability, their carers and the community. It focuses on the areas of Attitudes and Behaviours, Liveable Communities, Meaningful Employment and Better Systems and Processes.

Council is now seeking feedback and comments from residents, particularly those with a disability, their carers and families as well as service providers and businesses.

The DIAP can be viewed at or a paper copy can be obtained from any Council Customer Service Office.

For further information regarding the DIAP please contact Council’s Community Health and Wellbeing Coordinator Jody Whitley T: 6036 0114.

Comments in writing will be received until Wednesday, 14 June 2017 to The General Manager, Greater Hume Shire Council, PO Box 99, Holbrook NSW 2644 or by email to E:

Council will receive a further report incorporating the feedback at the June Council meeting.
