Jindera Community Garage Sale

The Jindera Museum coordinated the first Jindera community garage sale in 1999 and handed the coordination of the event over to Rural CareLink. It is always held on the second Sunday after Easter. This year will be one of the latest times.

Ray White Real Estate sponsored and supported the event for ten years. The Jindera Post Office has assisted and promoted this event each year by taking site bookings and providing information. In more recent years the event has been sponsored by various local businesses. A list of the current year’s sponsors will be in the May edition of the Jindera News and on Facebook. With the advent of technology bookings can also be done through scanning the QR code on advertising material.

Jindera residents and those from the surrounding estates are invited to register their site to participate. Over the last 25 years the Garage Sale has increased from 40 t0 80 house sites making it the largest community garage sale in the Albury-Wodonga area also making it the biggest and best local recycling event in the area.

On the sale day, it is wise for site participants to be organized as the first of many visitors arrive in town before the 8.00 am start time. By mid-morning, the township is busy with cars and pedestrians, all attracted to the variety and amount of goods.

With the increase in housing areas around Jindera it will be possible to add those new areas to a separate map. Maps will be available on the day outside the Op shop for $2.

There is something special about Jindera’s garages being open to the public and neighbours. It is a wonderful community networking event.
