Mobile Food Van Vending

Mobile food vendors are considered retail food businesses as they sell food to the public and need to comply with a range of requirements.

Mobile food vendors are those vehicles used for:

  • on-site food preparation eg. hamburgers, hot dogs and kebabs,
  • one-step food preparation eg. popcorn, fairy floss, coffee and squeezing juices,
  • any type of food including pre-packaged food.

Mobile food vendors and similar retail food outlets need to notify the local council of their business and food activity details.

Itinerant Mobile Food Vendors

Itinerant visiting mobile food vendors are usually vendors who only come through the LGA at sporadic times and generally set up on private land.

Temporary and Permanent Mobile Food Van

A temporary mobile food van vendor usually attends events located in the LGA such as a market or a coordinated event.
A permanent mobile food van vendor usually sets up in one or more locations on public land situated within the LGA.
