Council News from December 2021 Meeting

Business dealt with at the meeting included:

The Mayor:

  • acknowledged and thanked the Engineering team for keeping residents safe and secure during the storms and flooding in late November. Additionally the Mayor thanked the SES for their responsiveness on behalf of a constituent.
  • thanked Councillor Terry Weston for his commitment and service to the Community during his tenure on Council. Cr Weston will retire following the upcoming election. 

Council adopted the final Jindera Residential Land Use Strategy subject to four amendments.

Council endorsed actions to initiate the disposal of the Brocklesby Hotel.

Council resolved that the Mayor and General Manager can acquire an executive style residence in the shire to assist in the recruitment of an appropriately qualified and skilled General Manager.

Council will submit the following motion to the LGNSW Special Conference in February / March 2022: “That LGNSW lobby the NSW State Government to continue to provide on-going funding to the RFCS that will allow it to continue to provide on-ground, face-to-face services to farming enterprise and families in NSW.”

Council will receive a report on the Infrastructure Contributions Bill at the January meeting of Council.

Council approved 8 applications for Round 2 Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund Grant (BCRRF) totalling $107,855.00

The Holbrook Community Garden Committee was appointed as a Management Committee of Council in accordance with Section 355 of the Local Government Act 1993. The Terms of Reference for the Committee were adopted. 

Council resolved to close and sell an unused section of Hoffmans Road, Culcairn.

Council approved the construction of footpath in Urana Street, Jindera and the footpath and kerb and channel in Molkentin Road Jindera.

On behalf of Council, I extend warm Christmas greetings to all residents of Greater Hume. I would also like to pass on thanks to the General Manager and staff of Greater Hume Council for their hard work and commitment over the past two and a half years, during a range of challenges, including bushfires and a global pandemic.
