Greater Hume’s new Council has now been officially declared after the finalisation of the postal votes and the distribution of preferences.
Greater Hume are happy to welcome back many returning Councillors, and excited to see some newcomers join the table for the next four years.
The results of the Greater Hume Council elections are;
North Ward
- Ben Hooper
- Brian Liston
- Annette Schilg
West Ward
- Matthew Hicks
- Ashley Lindner
- Jenny O’Neill
East Ward
- Kerry Morton
- Lea Parker
- Tony Quinn
The outcome Constitutional Referendum is that the Ward system is to remain within Greater Hume Council.
Councillors will now undergo an induction program to ensure clear knowledge of the workings of Council, understand their role and responsibilities and allow them to hit the ground running.
On 9 October, Councillors will undertake the oath or affirmation of office. Council will then meet for the first time, including the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The new Council will then officiate over Council business for the first time, considering a range of issues and making decisions for and on behalf of the community.
Greater Hume Council would like to thank all candidates who nominated to become a Councillor. Council would also like to thank outgoing Councillors, Ian Forrest, Doug Meyer, OAM and Heather Wilton for their incredible work and community effort over the last Council period.
