Shipping Containers
Development Consent is required for shipping containers for Zones RU4, RU5, R2 and R5
- A maximum of one (1) shipping container can be placed on a lot
- The maximum size of a shipping container is limited to 20ft (6mx2.5m)
- Shipping containers may only be used for domestic storage purposes
Under Zone RU1 shipping containers can be placed on a lot under Exempt Development but must comply with the following in accordance with the Exempt and Complying Development SEPP
1.There must not be more than the following number of shipping containers per landholding—
(i) for a landholding that has an area of less than 400ha—1,
(ii) for a landholding that has an area of 400ha or more—5,

If you wish to install more than the allowable shipping containers under the SEPP on land zoned RU1 Development Consent is required from Council.
Shipping containers must be anchored to footings.
What is required:
- Site Plan
- Elevations (Photos are acceptable)
- Footing and anchor design – approved by a Structural Engineer
