Country Women's Association - Jindera Branch 100 Years Celebration
Experience a trip down memory lane when the local arm of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) celebrates the organisation's 100-year anniversary at the Jindera Pioneer Museum on September 9, 10 and 11.
The museum grounds will come alive with a variety of games, crafts, workshops, talks and displays that reflect the bygone days of yesteryear.
Bring your children and grandchildren along for some good old fashion fun and an insight to what life was like without electronics and technology – sure to be an eye opener for many!
Friday September 9 will see an open day where school groups are welcome to come along and take part in the range of activities staged by the CWA ladies. The fun will continue into Saturday and Sunday where everyone is invited to enjoy and participate in all the events.
“We will have a Scottish Piper, a horse-shoeing demonstration, the spinning wheel will be singing and you can learn about old remedies and how herbs and spices were used back in the day,” said Treasurer Denice Murphy.
“There will also be a treasure hunt for children, cakes and slices for sale and history boards that show what the CWA is about and its history.”
On Saturday and Sunday a sausage sizzle will be on offer as you peruse handicrafts and garden treasurers and you can also enjoy a devonshire tea in the museum’s tea rooms as part of your outing.
Come dressed to suit the theme if you have historical garments and refinery and enjoy some authentic old-fashioned hospitality.
“This is another opportunity for the museum to showcase the magic of the old days and invite people to discover the area’s rich pioneering spirit,” said museum president Margie Wehner.
“As well as all the CWA activities visitors will be able to experience the huge amount of artefacts and memorabilia we have on display here from the smallest of the 100 year old medicine bottles to the largest of the original horse and dray carts used to transport the early pioneers here.
